Water lilies

dsc07815So-called water lilies are members of the family Nymphaeaceae. They expose the leaves and the flowers on the water surface in order to “eat” via photosynthesis and reproduce by pollination. Their roots, however, are located within the soil of water bodies.

With their colorful petals and fancy leaves they make ponds’ and rivers’ most beautiful jewellery.
